Learn to Skate

Learn to Skate is designed to develop strong basic skating skills (e.g. balance, stride, edges and stopping) as an introductory program for children interested in hockey. No previous skating experience is necessary.

First part of season

Some children might start out by pushing milk crates about the ice; while others may not. Skating techniques will be taught as each player develops at their own pace. The goal is to have all kids skating without aids (milk crates) by the new year.

Towards the end of season

At the Director's discretion hockey sticks may be distributed to each player as the fundamentals of hockey are introduced and the education of skating skills continues.

By being taught both skating and hockey skills our program will benefit and so will the child as he/she develops the early stages of becoming a hockey player!
